This workshop focused on creating a mindset that will lead you to a successful business, a healthy approach to social media, and staying authentic in the process.
Key points:
1. You have to roll the red carpet for yourself
Sometimes, we think we need to be something else/more to start a business. Give yourself permission to start imperfect and with mistakes. There is never the right moment, you just have to start now, don´t wait for someone to tell you it´s your turn.
Try telling yourself: „I am not afraid to be seen trying.“
2. Be authentic
When there´s ´I have to´ or ´I should´ popping up in your mind, take a step back and ask yourself where is it coming from. Is it actually something you want, or is it your ego speaking? We should aim for ´I want´.
Being visible is like being a magnet. For example, don´t be afraid to post something on social media because of being judged. One single post can change everything, and you never know which one it could be. Don´t be afraid of being your true authentic self.
3. Know your goals
Imagine your ideal business offer. Even if you don´t have it right now, think of what you could do to get the offer to come to you. And even if your goal is to get a big offer, a small one can be a step on a way to getting the big one.
Don´t underestimate the power of taking small steps.
Disclaimer:
You don´t need to be visible on social media to be successful.
That´s why you need to know your goals. If your goal is to be famous, of course, you want to aim for having a lot of followers. But if your goal is to sell offers and be relevant in your field, you don´t need a lot of people following you, you just need a few of the right ones.
Dare to be less relevant for everyone so you can be more relevant for the few.
Takeaways:
Find your thing.
If making videos on Instagram is not your thing, don´t do it because it will always feel like work – then you have to rely on your willpower to do it, and it might not always work out. If you like writing more, find a platform where such type of content is more supported. If you actually enjoy what you´re doing, it´s more sustainable.
You don´t need to be perfect on social media.
Be vulnerable.
Vulnerability builds trust. You might be afraid of being judged, but remember that people see hundreds of videos on social media daily. They will probably scroll and forget about you in a few seconds. The more posts like that you post, the more comfortable you get about it.
People will say bad things about you anyway, so say them yourself and take the power into your own hands.
On the other hand, you have to find balance. Don´t be too vulnerable just in the sake of being vulnerable. Just be yourself.
Exercise:
Ask yourself the following questions, and take 30 seconds to answer each. Don´t overthink it too much, just write what first pops up in your mind.
1. How do I want to be perceived?
2. What are my strengths?
3. What do I want to be known for?
Afterwards, you can review your answer to question 1 and ask yourself: Is it really how I want to be perceived, or is it my ego speaking and telling me this is how I need to be perceived in order to be successful?
